On the day of the shepherds’ feast, the women of the Napolitano family go in search of those of the
Cipro family, traversing treacherous mountain roads, to vie for a power none of them really has.
In a mountain village, the Napolitano family is in conflict with the Cipro family, in a feud for control of the territory. The sudden disappearance of the old leaders, who died during the conflict or were arrested, gives the women an opportunity to take control. On the day of the patronal feast, when hundreds of shepherds and animals invade the village, over the course of twelve hours the two families search for each other in the surrounding woods, with the aim of violently settling the war, once and for all. But the search turns out to be more complicated than expected, as paranoia grows that they are being followed by an unseen enemy. Along the way, tensions emerge between the women of the Napolitano family: a grandmother, Loredana, at the head of the clan; a mother, Rosa, deprived of her husband and all power; a 20-year-old daughter, Paola, predestined to take the lead; and the teenage Anna, who does not feel within herself the stimuli to act as she should, still tied to her broken friendship with Giulia Cipro. Late at night, the two clans meet and a violent gunfight breaks out. The survivors, Anna and Giulia, are taken to hospital. Here, their respective grandmothers must decide what to do, continue the trail of blood or give their granddaughters a chance, allowing them to escape, towards another future.
